Get back to blogging

I’ve been telling myself that I wanted to start writing again, and it’s really easy to not do something that you say you want to do. There are so many levels of removal from the goal. “Yeah, I want to get back to thinking about doing something like that again.” Why not just do it? Don’t want to do it, just sit down and do it. You’d be surprised at what gets done. Or maybe you just shouldn’t be surprised at how easy it is to avoid it.

For the past few months I have been forming a workout plan. I decided that I was going to get it started with pushups. Every few days I would remember this plan and knock out a few pushups. I then decided that I was being too haphazard, and was going to do 10 pushups each day, as soon as I got up and went to the bathroom. The craziest thing is, I was already seeing the procrastination, the moment I got up I was thinking about how I would do the pushups tomorrow. I had to cut off that little voice that starts telling me to do it later. The only thing “later” promises is that it will take you longer to accomplish what you say you want now.
