August 6th Workout_295x166The hardest part of this workout, like most things was getting it started. There were plenty of reasons to keep me from getting myself going.

“It’s too hot/ I’ll do it after I take my meds/Meds make me feel nasty, I’ll do it tonight/Tonight I want to watch this movie, I’ll do it tomorrow.”

It’s really easy to reason yourself into accomplishing nothing. My latest one was that I didn’t have the right shoes, since my feet had swollen so much I didn’t know what size I wore anymore. When I told FlipAAA this, he showed up at the door and said he was going to look at some stuff at Ross, and that we could check out some shoes.  We walked in and there was a pair of size 10.5 Brooks shoes that were the exact style I wanted. But they didn’t fit. Oh well, I tried.

Flip found a size 11.5; Also too tight. Then we found a pair of size 12. Fit like a glove. And the price? $30. They were practically giving them away. We walked out with a new pair of shoes. So that excuse was gone.

The next morning, I made my way to the track, with a plan to do 4 laps around the track, 10 pushups, and 10 squats after each lap.  It wasn’t too physically demanding. It was only taking a step over the biggest hurdle I had in my way; the mental block.  Once I stepped over that Great Wall, the rest of the path was right in front of me.  I’m planning to stay on it, every step of the way.
